If you don't know who the title is about, then you need to add in one more TV show to watch! April Ludgate is a character on NBC's "Parks and Recreation." The show itself is about a group of people who work in the Parks and Recreation committee in their local city council. That was a very quick summary but the show is great! It is one of the most hilarious shows playing on TV today with characters you can't help but love! More about the show to come soon in our 'Things We Love' section. Back to April...we absolutely love her style on the show! (All the ladies on Parks and Rec have impeccable style!) So cute, comfy, and casual yet perfect for office work. Below are some outfits inspired by her with pieces she regularly wears.
Cardigans are a staple in April Ludgate's closet! Paired with either a patterned blouse or graphic tee is the usual. Choose some bright colors, and don't be afraid to wear some colored jeans! Decide on a skirt? Try tucking the blouse in and adding a pair of tights to tie the outfit together!
These jackets April has been known to wear are more for that cooler fall weather. Try wearing them with a sweater underneath to stay warm.
This last section of outfits are just some miscellaneous ones that April has wore that we love! We adore the sweater and button up combo as well as denim/jean shirts. And don't forget the hoodie for those lazy days!

Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing.”

Yes, I am a jean-sweater-combat boot-beanie-wearing fashionista. I can't say no good sweater. They are one of the fastest ways to look casual chic and not to mention are comfortable. I also love to shop in  men's/junior boy's sections of store for tee-shirts because  they tend to have higher necklines and simpler designs, which i can never seem to find in the women's sections. Here we've showcased many different ways to look casual. A common theme was jeans, whether they are boyfriend, camo, dark, light, flared or colored they definitely have the power to make any outfit casual, and we kept accessories to a minimum. The first and second sets can really be for springy/fall/winter depending on where you live, and the third set is more winter fashion. Sometimes less is more, and I think some of the chicest outfits are also the simplest.

Have I been watching too much New Girl? Yes. Do I want Jess & Nick to be together? Yes. Am I obsessed with Jess's wardrobe? Yes.If you haven't ever seen the FOX TV show New Girl, you need to check it out ASAP (of course after you've finish exploring our blog). It's about a quirky but lovable teacher (Jess) who moves in with three guys after a breakup with her longtime boyfriend. She quickly turns their life upside down but manages to befriend her housemates, Winston (a former basketball player now producer of his own radio show); Schmidt (a metro-sexual-social-ladder-climbing-ladies-man); and my favorite character of all, Nick (basically a grumpy old man trapped in a thirty something year old body). However, this post is not about the actual TV show, but the ever so feminine dresses she wears. The following outfits below are what I think would be Jess-Approved.
These dresses have the power to make any girl look lovely. I love the different variations of necklines and patterns (collared, cowl, low, high)/(floral, stripes, polka dot, solid); and how vintage inspired they are. I tend to like these types of girly dresses, rather than sequined/tulle disasters. After all, “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” ^_~

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”  - Karl Lagerfeld
We're loving coral and flared jeans right now, as if you couldn't tell from the picture above :P  Coral is a flirty, fun, bright spring color, (which is hopefully  coming up soon).  Flared jeans are perfect for a night out in the town with the girls. They can give the illusion of legs that go on for miles, especially if you pair them with high heels. So next time you're going out, take advice from Karl Lagerfeld and trade in the sweatpants for some fabulous jeans and a pop of color!

It can be a fascinating game, noticing how any person with vitality and vigor will have a little splash of red in a costume, in a room, or in a garden... - Edgar Cayce
Peplums are the answer to just about everything. They have to ability to hide maybe not-so-flattering waists or thighs but magically accentuate it at the same time using an overcoat at the waist otherwise know as a peplum. Adding a belt can do you no harm, whether you want a pop of color, or to accentuate your waist even more. These were some of my favorites, because each had a little quirk that would make you WERK.
  • My personal favorite was dress at the top right. Its thin spaghetti straps and heart shaped neckline are effortlessly alluring, and its simplicity allows you to wear the dress, not the dress to wear you. Soft bouncy curls, strappy black heels, and a clutch should complete the look whether your going out with the girls or having a romantic night this Valentine's Day.
  • Lace is sure to get you that Va Va Voom look. It's screams romance, especially when paired with red. I think round platforms rather than strappy heels or peep-toed pumps match the lace much better allowing focus on the dress and more importantly, you.
  • And then there was one. This last dress caught my eye for its interesting take on the peplum. I love how the layers of the peplum were done from side to side, which is not something I've seen very often while browsing for peplum dresses. It's higher neckline would look great with a bib necklace or any short chunky necklace.
But the one thing these all have in common is that they are all red. Red is the color of love, passion, and in many cultures... happiness. Who wouldn't want that for Valentine's Day?

“I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” -Coco Chanel
